The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) seized Hunter Biden’s laptop from a Delaware computer store in 2019 as part of a money-laundering probe, Fox News reported Oct. 21. The network obtained documents regarding the laptop’s seizure, which multiple federal law enforcement officials have confirmed as authentic. However, it is unclear whether the money laundering investigation was still ongoing and if it was related to Hunter Biden.
One of the documents was an FBI receipt for Property form detailing the bureau’s interactions with John Paul Mac Isaac, the owner of The Mac Shop where the laptop was left for repairs. The form’s case ID section had the handwritten serial number 272D-BA-3065729. The 272D designation pertained to “Money Laundering, Unknown Specified Unlawful Activity,” counted under white-collar crimes. The BA initials stood for the FBI’s field office in Baltimore, Maryland, where the case was opened.
Another document obtained by Fox News, a subpoena to appear before a grand jury, was sent to Isaac on Dec. 9, 2019. The subpoena carried out in Wilmington, Delaware, ordered him to testify before the U.S. District Court of Delaware on Dec. 17. An attachment to the summons indicated the serial numbers for the laptop and hard drive seized by federal agents “in lieu of personal appearance.” FBI Agent Joshua Wilson signed both the receipt for property form and the summons.
The conservative media outlet previously reported that the laptop is now with the FBI. However, the bureau has declined to confirm or deny if there was an investigation into the laptop or the emails in it – following standard practice. Hunter Biden’s laptop seized from The Mac Shop appears to contain a substantial amount of files linking the Biden family to various illicit deals.
An Oct. 14 story by the New York Post revealed two emails from Vadym Pozharskyi, an executive at Ukrainian gas company Burisma, sent to Biden and his business partner Devon Archer. In the first email, Pozharskyi thanked Hunter Biden for the chance to meet and “spend time” with his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden. The elder Biden previously denied that he talked to his son about “overseas business dealings.”
The Burisma executive’s second email asked a favor from the younger Biden to use their influence to stop “politically motivated actions” against its founder Mykola Zlochevsky. Pressure from the elder Biden led to the Ukrainian president firing the top prosecutor investigating alleged irregularities by Zlochevsky.
The next day, the Post released emails sent to Hunter Biden detailing compensation packages for six people. Hunter’s pay was pegged at “850” for his role as either a chairman or a vice-chairman for a new company. In addition, the email touched on a “provisional agreement”: “H” or Hunter Biden was to hold 20 percent of shares in the new company. A ten percent cut of profits would be set aside “for the big guy,” which Hunter was charged to protect. A source confirmed the identity of the “big guy” as the Democratic presidential candidate.
Another email between Biden and Chinese tycoon Ye Jianming talked about a “much more lasting and lucrative agreement” by establishing a holding company with the tycoon and the younger Biden as co-owners – which was called Hudson West. Biden and Gongwen Dong, a business associate of Ye, then opened up a credit line at a bank using the holding company: Credit cards issued under the account were made available to Hunter, his uncle James Biden and James’ wife, Sara. The couple subsequently charged $100,000 worth of “extravagant items” to the said account.
Subsequent reports have touched on other files found in the laptop, such as child pornography and sexual abuse. However, mainstream media is taking a “hands-off” approach in order to protect Joe Biden as the election nears.
