Gov. Gavin Newsom funded unlicensed, Chinese-backed biolab operations in California using taxpayer money.
Earlier this month, an illegal biolab in Fresno County was raided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The lab was reportedly engaged in the unlawful production of Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) tests and pregnancy tests.
The laboratory also served as a breeding ground for different infectious diseases, such as coronavirus, malaria, rubella, HIV, chlamydia, E. coli, pneumonia, hepatitis and herpes. Moreover, the federal agents discovered the presence of hazardous materials, medical waste and a population of over 1,000 laboratory mice.
Documents indicate that Universal Meditech, the precursor to Prestige Biotech, was granted its business license under the administration of Newsom.
According to public records, the biolab previously tied to Universal Meditech Inc. (UMI) was awarded $500,000 in taxpayer funding from Newsom’s Office of Business and Economic Development. (Related: Chinese-run biolab in California awarded $500,000 in taxpayer dollars to fund ILLICIT ACTIVITIES.)
The biolab disbursed a $149,824 COVID-19-era loan program from the federal government in April 2020 and February 2021. Moreover, the biolab secured another $360,000 income tax credit in Newsom’s CalCompetes program in 2018 but failed to disburse the funds.
Rep. Mark Green, R-Tenn., a vocal critic of the alleged collaboration, said: “Allowing a Chinese company to practice gain-of-function research on our shores is like inviting biological warfare into our backyard.”
As investigations continue, new allegations suggest a potential connection between President Joe Biden’s administration and the illegal biolab in California.
California Globe Editor-in-Chief Katy Grimes delved into the lab’s background and questioned the potential link between the current administration and the lab. Grimes pointed to the suspicious timing of the Food and Drug Administration‘s (FDA) recall warning on 54,000 COVID-19 test kits produced by Universal Meditech (UMI), a company linked to Prestige Biotech, the entity behind the illegal lab.
“Colleagues believe that our current government has invited in and is supporting Chinese government-sponsored operations throughout the United States in academia, online data gathering (social media apps), law enforcement and scientific research,” she said.
The Class I recall, signaling a high risk of serious harm, occurred long after the FDA had initially approved the products.
Furthermore, Grimes drew attention to the way Newsom handled the situation. The close oversight of COVID-19 policies within the state contrasts sharply with the apparent lack of awareness or action regarding the fraudulent and hazardous test kits. Grimes said that Newsom’s administration failed to address potential threats lurking within its own borders.
“Newsom even approved spending $1 billion of taxpayers’ funds in April 2020 on masks from Chinese company BYD which had no prior history of making personal protective equipment, and yet days after the FDA approval, it secured a $1 billion deal to supply masks to California,” she pointed out.
