Similar to what happened in 2016, a host of celebrities and influencers made wild claims that they would leave the country or even end their lives if Donald Trump won another term in the White House. Will any of them actually follow through?
Take Rob Reiner, for instance. He promised to “set himself on fire” if Trump wins. Then there is author Stephen King who said he would throw himself in a “woodchipper” if Trump was reelected.
In King’s case, there is speculation that perhaps he has some kind of untoward predilection for children, so perhaps his mention of going in the woodchipper is based on that.
“I can’t help but wonder if there were an underlying message there,” remarked American Thinker‘s Olivia Murray.
“I mean, the woodchipper is the cliché execution method of choice for pedophiles and child molesters, finding its way into countless memes, like the one where the man wonders why his neighbor is putting logs into the ‘pedo machine.’ Of all the ways to off yourself, why did King settle on that one? Did King just expose himself and signal guilt?”

Bette Midler is another Hollywood darling who shared a picture to social media of a bottle of champagne sitting next to a bottle of drain cleaner. Midler affixed sticky notes to both bottles indicating which one should be drunk depending on who won the election.
Bono, a highly political musician, promised that if Trump won, he would drive himself off a “cliff.”
One wonders how many of these people want to flee because they fear that Trump will come after them for the skeletons hidden in their closets. Is that really all this is, or is there more to the story?
As funny as it might seem to some to watch these various meltdowns, it is a disturbing testament to not only the deep divide that exists in American politics but also the hidden sins that the world’s wealthiest and most influential do not want seeing the face of justice.
“Hollywood is dying,” one commenter wrote about how rapidly the entertainment industry has tumbled ever since Trump entered stage right. “It is very rare to see a good television show that does not have woke or homosexual elements to it any longer.”
Another pointed out that it is now time for Trump to start purging the deep state like he promised he would do with all that “drain the swamp” rhetoric.
“Didn’t Oprah, Streisand, and Cher (she also said she’s taking a gun to her head) say they’re moving out of the country if Trump wins?” asked another.
“We should start a poll to see how many of them actually do leave,” suggested another about those in the entertainment industry who said they would take drastic action if Trump got reelected.
“Personally, I thought Midler’s social media photo was funny,” said another. “Pretty much how I felt only in the opposite direction. Let’s not be like the left and lose our senses of humor.”
Alec Baldwin is another who promised he would leave the U.S. along with his wife and 12 children if Trump won.
“Maybe he and ‘I’m With Liz’ Kevin C. can make a western together (just one installment, please, under 90 minutes),” joked another. “Don’t know if Alec, like President Trump, will have a Second Act with his DJT impersonator schtick on SNL.”
